When a tooth truly can't be saved, we remove it as gently and carefully as possible.
A tooth may need removing for several reasons — advanced decay, infection, established gum disease, a fracture, or simply a lack of space. We always consider whether the tooth can be saved before turning to extraction, and if removal really is the better path, we keep you comfortable with effective local anaesthetic and up-to-date technique. Most of the extractions we carry out are routine, uncomplicated procedures. Occasionally a tooth is too badly broken down, has fractured below the gum line, or is otherwise tricky to remove safely, and in those cases a surgical extraction is the safer route — something we'll always explain clearly before going ahead.
