WHAT TO EXPECT FIRST TIMEYour first visit to GL1 Dental
Your first appointment starts with a proper conversation — about your dental history, any concerns, and what's brought you to us — followed by a thorough examination and any X-rays that are needed. Because we're a new practice with no backlog, we can give first appointments the time they actually need, usually thirty to forty-five minutes, rather than rushing through a list.
We'll always explain what we find in plain English, set out any recommended treatment clearly, and agree pricing in writing before anything is booked in. There's no pressure to commit to anything during that first visit — you're welcome to take a treatment plan away and think it over, particularly for anything beyond routine care.
For families and patients who haven't seen a dentist in some time, we try to keep that first visit reassuring rather than clinical in tone. A lot of the people walking through our door on Stroud Road for the first time haven't had a proper check-up in years simply because they couldn't get registered anywhere, and we're conscious of that when setting the pace of a first appointment.
RIGHT ON YOUR DOORSTEPServing the whole of Gloucester
Stroud Road sits close enough to the city centre, Kingsholm, Tuffley, Linden, Podsmead and Hempsted that we genuinely see patients from right across Gloucester, not just the immediate streets around the practice. That central, well-connected position was deliberate — a practice on the edge of the city would only ever really serve one side of it, whereas Stroud Road puts us within a short drive, bus ride or walk of most of the city's residential areas.
Gloucester's population has grown steadily over recent years, with new housing developments on the edges of the city adding to a shortfall in dental provision that's been building for a long time, and we've positioned GL1 Dental as a genuine long-term answer to that rather than a stopgap. Being new also lets us build flexible opening hours and a booking system around what actually works for working patients, families with school-age children, and older residents who've struggled to get a routine appointment anywhere nearby.
We're proud to be opening in a city with as much history and character as Gloucester — from the Cathedral and the Docks to the ordinary streets of Stroud Road itself — and we intend for GL1 Dental to become a genuinely trusted, permanent part of that community rather than a practice that comes and goes.
NO WAITING LISTA brand new practice, built for Gloucester
We opened GL1 Dental specifically because so many Gloucester residents told us the same thing — that finding a dentist taking on new adult patients in the city had become almost impossible. As a new private practice, there's no inherited backlog and no years-long waiting list; appointments are genuinely available from the point you first call.
That freshness runs through the whole practice, from newly fitted surgeries to a booking system designed around modern patient expectations rather than an old paper diary. We'd rather build our reputation one appointment at a time than ask patients to take anything on trust.
EASY TO REACHCentral to the whole city
Stroud Road's position, close to the Bristol Road junction and the inner ring road, means we're realistically reachable from almost every part of Gloucester — Kingsholm and Longlevens to the north, Tuffley and Matson to the south, Podsmead and Linden right on our doorstep, and Barnwood and Hucclecote a short drive to the east.
TRANSPARENT COSTSStraightforward pricing, explained upfront
We know that moving from NHS to private dental care can feel like a big step for a lot of Gloucester families, so we make a point of setting out costs clearly before any treatment is booked, with no surprise additions once you're in the chair. For larger courses of treatment, such as implants or a full smile makeover, we can talk through finance options so nothing has to be paid in one lump sum.
URGENT DENTAL CARESame-day emergency appointments
We keep space in the diary every day specifically for emergencies — a broken tooth, a lost filling, or pain that's come on suddenly. Call as early as you can and we'll do everything possible to see you the same day, regardless of whether you've been a patient with us before.
FOR ALL AGESFamily dentistry from the very start
From young children having their first check-up to older residents who haven't seen a dentist in years, we've set GL1 Dental up to look after whole families under one roof. We're happy to see everyone in a household on the same day where possible, to save separate trips to Stroud Road.
A CALM APPROACHModern surgeries, unhurried appointments
Because we're building our patient list from scratch, we can genuinely give every appointment the time it needs rather than rushing through a fully booked day. Digital X-rays, modern equipment and a calm, unhurried surgery are all part of how we've set the practice up from day one.
