Getting to GL1 Dental on Stroud Road

Stroud Road runs south-west out of the city centre towards the A4173 and on towards Stroud itself, and 124–126 sits within the built-up stretch close to where the road meets Bristol Road and Reservoir Road, only a few minutes' drive from Gloucester's inner ring road. If you're coming from the M5, leave at Junction 12 and follow the A38 into the city before picking up signs for Stroud Road, or come off at Junction 11a and cut across via the A417 and Bristol Road if you're approaching from the Cheltenham side.

The road itself is a busy, mixed residential and commercial stretch, so allow a little extra time during the morning and late-afternoon school run, particularly near the junction with Reservoir Road. There's no dedicated car park attached to the practice, but Stroud Road and the surrounding residential streets around Tuffley Avenue and Painswick Road offer realistic options for a short stay, and most appointments only need thirty to sixty minutes at most.

Coming from Quedgeley or Hardwicke, the most direct route follows Bristol Road straight into Stroud Road, avoiding the city centre entirely — a genuinely quick trip outside peak times, and one that a lot of patients on the south-western edge of Gloucester already use for shopping or commuting into town.

By bus, train or on foot to Stroud Road

Stagecoach services running along Stroud Road and Bristol Road connect the practice directly with the city centre, Tuffley, Matson and Quedgeley, with stops close enough to the practice that most bus passengers are at our door within a couple of minutes of stepping off. Gloucester railway station, meanwhile, is around a fifteen to twenty-minute walk away through the city centre, or a short bus or taxi ride if you'd rather not walk both ways in one visit.

For patients coming from the Docks, the Quays or the city centre itself, the walk down past Gloucester Cathedral and through to Southgate Street, then on to Bristol Road and Stroud Road, is entirely manageable and takes most people well under half an hour at an easy pace — a route plenty of city-centre workers use to fit an appointment around a lunch break.

Cyclists coming from Linden, Kingsholm or the city centre will find Stroud Road a reasonably direct, mostly flat route in, and we're happy for bikes to be brought inside or left securely near the entrance rather than locked out on the pavement.

There's no dedicated car park at the practice, but on-street parking along Stroud Road and the surrounding residential streets is realistic for a short appointment — most patients find a space within a couple of minutes' walk.

Your first appointment starts with a proper conversation — about your dental history, any concerns, and what's brought you to us — followed by a thorough examination and any X-rays that are needed. Because we're a new practice with no backlog, we can give first appointments the time they actually need, usually thirty to forty-five minutes, rather than rushing through a list.

We'll always explain what we find in plain English, set out any recommended treatment clearly, and agree pricing in writing before anything is booked in. There's no pressure to commit to anything during that first visit — you're welcome to take a treatment plan away and think it over, particularly for anything beyond routine care.

For families and patients who haven't seen a dentist in some time, we try to keep that first visit reassuring rather than clinical in tone.
