Overview — 001

Spotting an issue early usually means a smaller, more affordable fix later on.

A check-up here goes well beyond a quick peek for holes. We study your teeth, gums, any existing dental work and your general oral health, watching for the first signs of decay, gum problems, wear or anything else worth flagging. If an X-ray is clinically justified, it's simply part of your visit, never something added to the bill separately.

  • Thorough review carried out by an experienced dentist
  • X-rays included whenever they're clinically justified
  • Issues flagged while they're still minor
  • A standard oral cancer screening at every visit
  • Practical tips suited to your own smile
  • Plain-English breakdown of any treatment suggested
The process — 002

How it goes, step by step.

4 stages
  1. 01
    5–10 min

    Medical history

We chat through your medical background, hear any concerns on your mind, and find out what matters most to you about your oral health.

  2. 02
    20–30 min

    Comprehensive examination

Your dentist takes a close look at your teeth, gums, bite and any existing dental work as part of a full check.

  3. 03
    5 min

    X-rays (if required)

Where clinically necessary, digital X-rays are taken to show anything that isn't visible to the naked eye.

  4. 04
    10 min

    Personalised plan

We talk you through what we've found, answer any questions, and suggest treatment or preventative steps only where they'd genuinely help.

Questions — 005

The things people actually ask.

Can't see your question? Message us on WhatsApp — we'll reply the same day.

  • Yes. GL1 Dental has just opened on Stroud Road, and the first 100 new patients to register with us get their new patient examination for just £10 — normally £50. X-rays are included where clinically needed. Once those 100 places are taken, the standard £50 fee applies.

  • Twice a year suits most people well, though some need to come more or less often depending on their own oral health. Your dentist will suggest a schedule that fits you.

  • Yes — if your dentist judges an X-ray to be clinically necessary during your appointment, it's already covered within the fee.

  • We begin by discussing your dental and medical history, then carry out a detailed examination of your teeth, gums and mouth. Everything we find is explained in plain terms, your questions are answered, and only then do we discuss any recommendations.

  • There's no need to feel self-conscious about it — plenty of our patients return after a long break. We're not here to judge, only to help get your oral health back on an even keel.

  • Yes — an oral cancer screening is built into every routine examination we carry out. Picking up on changes early can genuinely affect the outcome.

  • Not at all. We'll explain what we've found, set out your choices, answer whatever you'd like to ask, and leave the final decision entirely with you.
